Making friends can be hard, especially as adults.
But 87-year-old Doug Turner doesnt let age stand in the way of having a good time.
Her home security camera captured the endearing moment, marking the beginning of a new friendship.
Hernandez is new to the neighborhood, and hadnt had the pleasure of meeting Turner just yet.
He rings the doorbell, and pulls one invite out, ready to make his party pitch.
Hi, Im Doug across the street…
I live over in that house there, Turner said.
This is an invite to a party Im having on February 15th.
I didnt want to leave it in the mailbox.
Hernandez thanked Turner and went back inside to take a closer look at the invite.
Turner even received fan mail from around the world from people inspired by his mission to bring neighbors together.
Turner has called the street home for 16 years, though hes moved around a lot throughout his life.
My wife is gone now, so it gives me something to keep me busy, hesaid.
Im going to get these people in one room, and maybe theyll get to know each other.
Im closing out the night, he said, Its been going about five of six hours or so.
Im starting to get kind of tired.
Its been great to connect with a bunch of great neighbors.
And fortunately, the cops never showed up.
