Its only fitting, then, that Nick Caves largest sculpture to date inaugurates the space.

Like Caves renownedSoundsuitseries,Amalgam (Origin)rejects the expectation of uncovering a coherent face or identity.

The choice to shield the sculptures face, however, isnt strictly a comment on anonymity or prejudice.

They continue the propulsion within Caves practice towards public engagement and the civic and social responsibility of artwork.

Unlike the exhibitions three Amalgam sculptures, Caves graphts are surprisingly familiar and intimate.

What renders these graphts unique is that Cave allows himself to be recognizable in a way he hasnt before.

Amalgams and Graphtsis currently on view at Jack Shainmans new Tribeca location until March 15, 2025.
