The animal carcasses appeared at Lake Tefe, tributary of the Amazon River, alongside thousands of dead fish.
That is 10 degrees higher than the average for this time of the year.
The Amazon River dolphin is, as its name suggests, native to South America.

It is also known by the locals asboto, and can be pink or gray.
The effects of the drought are also felt by the populations living on the margins of the river.
