The beloved childrens showSesame Streetis welcoming a new neighbor.

Ji-Youngs name is fitting for living on Sesame Street.

And Young means, like, brave or courageous and strong, she explained during an interview.

But we were looking it up and guess what?

Ji also means sesame.

Kathleen Kim is Ji-Youngs puppeteer.

Kim, who is also Korean American, understands the weight of her role.

The beloved television showSesame Streetis getting a new neighbor: Ji-Young, the first Asian American Muppet.

Ji-Young is a Korean American girl who loves to play her eclectic guitar.

She’ll be part of the Best Friends Band.
