In fact, their samples were all clones carrying the entire genomes of the parent grass.

These clones multiplied at 13.7 inches over an estimated 4,500 years from a single seed.

This is similar to how land grass grows.

It now covers 77 square miles of the bay in one magnificent, underwater lawn.

The team of researchers is readying to run further tests to learn more about this extremely special plant.
